In March
2007, IMRF received a donation of medical supplies from Orange Regional
Medical Center - Horton valued at $1,400.00.
In May 2007,
Governor, Rotary District 7210, Carole Tjoa, allowed IMRF to hold a
50/50 raffle at the District Conference. As a result of the raffle,
IMRF raised $1725.00.
IMRF is
currently working with Jim Arenson of the Warwick Valley Rotary Club to
send medical equipment and supplies to the Princess Alice Hospital in
Grenada.
Effective May
1, 2007, the IMRF Board of Directors has hired Melanie Martin as the
organizations Administrative Manager. Melanie has been working with
IMRF for the past year and a half as their Administrative Assistant so
she is familiar with their work and enthusiastic about their goals.
Melanie has
completed 3 years of college and has 30 years business experience. Most
recently she completed a course in Grant writing which will be very
valuable to IMRF.
Some of her
responsibilities will be to establish and maintain an effective public
relations and marketing plan and to establish and manage a fund raising
and development plan designed to lead to fiscal stability.
In January 2007, St. Lukes Cornwall Hospital
donated an assortment of small medical equipment such as stents, custom
angio
kits, probes and balloon catheters. This equipment is valued at over
$31,000.00.
In
2003, the International Medical Relief Foundation received a number of
very generous donations. IMRF has sent these gifts -donated by local
hospitals and physicians- to medical facilities in various third world
countries that are in dire need of modern equipment and supplies.
Following is a brief description of some of our 2003 Donors and their
charitable contributions:

Jeffrey
Hirsch, CEO of Orange Regional Medical Center (Middletown, NY),
orchestrated the donation of various medical supplies (gauze,
bandages, etc) and equipment (monitors, et al) to IMRF. These items
were sent to hospitals in Kenya in early 2003.

Cataract
surgery will be modernized at Gita Bhawan Hospital in Indore, India,
thanks to the donation of a Phaco Emulsifier. The machine, valued
at $30,000, was a gift from Dr. Erik Nathanson, in cooperation with
the Rotary club of Hudson, NY. It was sent to Indore during the
Summer of 2003, courtesy of the Share & Care Foundation (check their
link in our Links page).

A
dental chair and accessories were donated by Dr. Paul
Horsemann through the Port Jervis (NY) Rotary club. The chair was
disassembled for transport to its future home in Grenada.

Dr.
Martha M. McGuffie, M.D. was instrumental in securing two entire
roomfuls of operating equipment from a local hospital in NY.
The entire donation, which includes surgical lights, scalpels,
knives, etc, is valued at over $1,028,000. IMRF sent these
items to Kenya,
Africa.
